Hunger Games Cast and What I think about it

The Official Hunger Games Cast

The Seam

Katniss Everdeen- Jennifer Lawrence

Photobucket

At first, I was upset to say the least. All I was thinking was: She's not small. She's not dark haired. She doesn't have an olive skin tone. She doesn't Seam grey eyes. She's too old. But I had to accept her right? Not much of a choice, really. So, in a desperate attempt to like her, I watched Winter's Bone. And I'm glad I did. She is an amazing actress. I am glad she got the role and I know she will do an great job. Based on some of her recent interviews, it's quite clear that she is 100% dedicated to the role and as an avid reader of the books, she understands what needs to be made of the character. Plus, she is an overall down to Earth person which anyone can help but love. All in all, she deserved the role and she looks fantastic as a brunette.

Peeta Mellark- Josh Hutcherson

Photobucket

I was fuming mad when he was first casted. Originally, I wanted Hunter Parrish to get the role and hope (preyed) he'd get the role. When he didn't I neared tears. I don't find Josh especially attractive and I always assumed Peeta's personality carried over to his looks. Another thing that troubled me with Josh's casting was the fact that he and Jennifer are the same height. In the book, it stresses the size difference between Katniss and the other tributes (including Peeta) quite often and Jennifer is as tall or taller than a majority of the tributes casted. However, with all this said, Josh has started to grow on me. I watched him in The Kids Are All Right and I thought he did exceptionally well in it. I also know that, like Jennifer, he is 100% dedicated to the role and understands the book and character quite well.

Gale Hawthorn- Liam Hemsworth

Photobucket

If I'm being honest, I really didn't care much about the casting of Gale since I never much liked his character. I am satisfied with this casting and not because Liam is one big hunk of eye candy. I feel like Gale is a quiet character that shows his emotions through his actions more than his words (like Peeta). I think that Liam can pull off the hard, brooding, handsome boy that is Gale Hawthorne. The only downside I can see in this casting is that shallow fan girls who only watch the movies will immediately go 'Team Gale' because, let's be real, Liam and Jennifer are going to make a hot duo.

Haymitch Abernathy- Woody Harrelson

Photobucket

I LOVE THIS CASTING. This guy is so hilarious. I watched him in Zombieland and I knew right then that he will make a hilarious and perfect Haymitch. Plus, he just has that asshole, drunkard look about him. I am so excited to see him in this movie.

Primrose Everdeen- Willow Shields

Photobucket

This girl is absolutely adorable. As far as acting goes, I haven't seen her in anything since she is quite new to Hollywood, but I know she has that sweet innocent look about her that will spur her sister to walk into eminent death for her.

Mrs. Everdeen- Paula Malcomson

Photobucket

I don't how good an actress she is but I've heard from multiple sources that she is a fantastic one. Plus, she has the weathered look that I always associated with Katniss' mom.

The Capitol

Effie Trinket- Elizabeth Banks

Photobucket

A lot of fans we upset by her casting but I've yet to figure out why exactly. I think Elizabeth is near perfect. With her pink wig, she will be a spitting image of the Effie in my head. I really hope she can pull off the humorous bits but other than that, I'm sure she'll be great.

The Prep Team

Cinna- Lenny Kravitz

Photobucket

Definitely not how I pictured Cinna at all. I always pictured him like Hugh Dancy. But this guy admittedly has a fashion designer look about him, and he is very soft spoken (as I've noticed in a few of his interviews) which I think is exactly what Cinna is all about- quiet yet powerful. I haven't seen him act, but I really hope he can pull off the role because its a huge one.

Portia- Latarsha Rose

Photobucket

To be honest, I really like the whole sweet looking, african american designers. It think it's because they match and Portia and Cinna always kind of matched in my mind. Portia isn't mentioned much in the book but to me she always seemed like the motherly type which Latarsha has the look for. Overall, I really, really like this casting.

Octavia- Brooke Bundy

Photobucket

I have no idea why I love this girl as Octavia so much.

Venia- Kimiko Gelman

Photobucket

Never really had a set image of Venia in my head so no complaints here.

Flavius- Nelson Ascencio

Photobucket

THIS. I love this guy's look. He seems a little fruity which is how I imagined Flavius to be.

The 'Entertainers'

President Snow- Donald Sutherland

Photobucket

This may not be how I pictured Snow in my head but really... Wow, just wow. He looks so evil and President Snow-like I just can't... I really hope he's a good actor, though. Many sources say he is.

Claudius Templesmith- Toby Jones

Photobucket

Not exactly how I pictured Claudius, but this guy is absolutely adorable and I'm excited to see him in the part.

Seneca Crane- Wes Bentley

Photobucket

Two words: Nom nom. This guy is one steaming hunk of I'd-totally-get-in-his-bed-after-he's-done-blowing-up-kids-in-an-arena. I'm so excited to see him in the movie because he kind of has a kind of darkness in his devilish features and because the fact that he was even casted means we'll get to see the behind-the-scenes of the Hunger Games which you never got to experience in the books.

Caesar Flickerman- Stanley Tucci

Photobucket

Oh god, this guy. He is awfully adorable for an older gentleman. I seriously can't wait to see him in blue lipstick and a blue wig. And him just being Caesar! I love love love this casting even though it wasn't my original idea of The Flickerman.

The Tributes

District 1

Marvel- Jack Quaid

Photobucket

I didn't even remember who Marvel was so I could have cared less who he was casted as him.

Glimmer- Leven Rambin

Photobucket

I really like this. She seems kind of... glimmery. (Even though it would have been more appropriate to name her Bloodlust or Profanity)

District 2

Cato- Alexander Ludwig

Photobucket

I would say that I wish that he had gotten the role as Peeta (since he made the cuts for the role and was in the top five guys being chosen for the role) but really, he looks like a total douche which Peeta is NOT. I admit, Cato was always some huge bully in my mind while reading the books but Alex has a cunning, calculating look about him which is exactly what Cato is- cunning and manipulating. Overall, I approve of this casting.

Clove- Isabelle Fuhrman

Photobucket

I still haven't figured out why I absolutely LOVE this casting. I think it's just her... look. She looks like she would totally kill a crap load of kids and not shed a tear about it. Plus, for some reason, I always assumed Cato and Clove had some sort of demented version of romance and Alex and Issabelle would be a hot couple. (I know, I'm a freak.) Anyway, I love her in this role. CAN NOT wait to see her try to cut up Katniss' face on the big screen!

District 3

Photobucket
I don't have much to say about this casting. I like it, but they weren't major characters therefor opinions or visualizations weren't made.

District 4

Photobucket
I don't have much to say about this casting. I like it, but they weren't major characters therefor opinions or visualizations weren't made.

District 5

Fox Face- Jackie Emerson

Photobucket
Foxface is... okay, I suppose. I really pictured her tall and skinny and nimble with a face that resembled, well, a fox. Like, a pointy nose and close knit eyes and small lips and freckles- lots of freckles. At least she's a ginger. As for the boy, I don't have much to say about this casting. I like it, but they weren't major characters therefor opinions or visualizations weren't made.

District 6

Photobucket
I don't have much to say about this casting. I like it, but they weren't major characters therefor opinions or visualizations weren't made.

District 10

District 11

Rue- Amandla Stenberg
Photobucket

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS. This girl is so cute and she kind of looks like the actress who plays Prim that it is believable that Katniss would team up with her because she reminds her of her sister. Plus, just... just look at that wittle face of hers. SO PRESH.

Thresh- Dayo Okeniyi

Photobucket

Seriously, this casting is godly in its perfection. He looks so sweet and innocent which will make it even more heartbreaking which his busts a bitch's skull. And when he dies. OVERALL, I freakin' love this guy as the big lug, Thresh.

Skitzophrenic

Skitzophrenic

People get scared when I talk to Gregory. Gregory is my bestfriend and I wish that people would except him for who he is. He's a little shy and I know that's traditionally a turn off for relationships but that's no reason to jump to conclusions about him. He's so smart. He gives me ideas all the time. He asks me to do this or say that because he's too scared to do it himself. He's so witty. Sometimes, I just want to hug him and tell him that everything will be alright in the end. He tells me that he will be taken from me soon and when I ask him by whom, he gets really silent. That's when I start crying and my mother has to hold me till the shudders stop.

Gregory was taken to the hospital on a Monday. He kept screaming and screaming outside my bedroom window that Sunday night until I opened the window and his wails shattered through the house. My bedroom door slammed open, leaving a gaping hole in the sheetrock behind it, and there the two of them were, silhoutted in buttery light from the hall. My parent's faces blanched when they saw Gregory perched on the seal of the window. My parent's didn't know what to do with him, so they took him to the hospital. I asked how they knew to take him there; maybe he just had a bad dream, or his own mommy had hurt him so he ran to me, but my mother and father stayed mute. Both their lips were thin and tight in the car. The radio played my favorite song. Gregory sang along.

Gregory was scared of the hospital. The too brightness of the white everthing paralyzed him. He said nothing the whole time he was there. Each minute I was at his side. When my parents would leave the room for another cup of coffee, Gregory would turn is black, beady eyes on me and giggle quietly. I don't know why he did it but it scared me. When the door would open again returning my parents, Gregory's head would snap back forward and his black stare at the walls would commence again.

My parent's took me home the following Tuesday evening. I didn't cry when they tugged me away from Gregory's grip, but as soon as I was seated in the car, the places on my shoulders where he had grabbed me started to burn. At home, my parents smiled and kissed me. The two of them were practically beaming and they beamed until the sun didn't. When I was tucked away in bed, they came in my bedroom, their flourescent skin sprinkling the floor around them in a citris glow, walked over and kissed my cheek. They shut the door quietly when they left, and the black hole in the walk stared back at me. Dark and small. Like Gregory's eyes.

Sometime during the night, I was woken by an unknown stimulate. My foggy brain didn't care enough to locate the source but I didn't need to; it found me. I felt a tiny hand curl around mine, our fingers interwining like little mating worms. My head rolled to the side, and blending into a pool of shadows and blankets was Gregory. He smiled and poked my eyelids with the tip of his pinky. I fell back asleep.

He was finally gone and they should have been rejoicing. Externally, they were, but deep down they knew Gregory would never leave their child. Not when he turns five and not when he turns thirty. He was gone, though, for the moment. Sleep no longer evaded them. They both sleep like babies that Tuesday night. They awoke at the same time. They silently agreed to check on their son together. Just to make sure, they tell themselves. The door knob to his bedroom is cold, like turning dry ice. Their son lays on his side facing away from the door. They notice the slight movement of his pointy shoulders. After closer inspection, they realize he's stroking the empty air in front of him lovingly, whispering over and over. " I missed you, too, Gregory."

Author's Note: God, I'm a creep. Whatever. This was... interesting to write. I swear, I get inspired by the most random things. Btw, I would like to apologize for the atrocity that is my last post. I would delete it, but I find it mildly humorous.

AND ON A DIFFERENT YET STILL CREEPY NOTE. I made this in my computer class today on Photoshop. lolololol

You're welcome, Garrett Hedlund.
